I Let My Sales Funnel Talk to People So I Don’t Have To

A view of a sales funnel on a laptop

Have you ever wanted an online business that doesn’t require hopping on a phone call, networking, or landing new clients?

That type of business exists and it’s something that I do. I sell digital information products in the form of PDF files.

As an introvert, I chose this online business model so that I wouldn’t have to talk to anyone.

I let my sales funnel do all of the talking, marketing, and selling for me. I’ll explain below.

What is a Sales Funnel or Marketing Funnel?

If you are completely new to the term “sales funnel”, it is essentially a 1 – 2 page (sometimes more) website that directs your visitors to take a specific form of action.

In most cases, the goal is to build an email list and to sell a product. In my case, my sales funnel’s goal is to get visitors to buy my product and if they do not buy right away, I’ve captured their email address to continue marketing to them.

What Makes a Sales Funnel Different from a Regular Website?

A typical sales funnel software will have features to let you create web pages as well as checkout pages to sell your products.

For example, the sales funnel software I use, Systeme.io (my referral link) enables me to:

  • Create landing pages (or squeeze pages)
  • Build an email list
  • Create checkout pages
  • Tons of other features I won’t list right now

Sales funnel software is great for non-techy people. Most of them are user-friendly and saves you money because you do not have to hire someone to create one for you.

What Automates The Marketing and Selling of Your Digital Product?

It is the email marketing feature of the sales funnel software that automates your online business.

Email marketing software has a feature called an autoresponder. The autoresponder sends out pre-written email messages that you’ve created at specific times.

For example, if I want to make a 7-day autoresponder series, I’ll write seven different email messages and schedule to go out every day or every other day.

Autoresponders are great because the first several emails can be written to promote your product and convert your subscribers into sales.

I then tag everyone on my list that completes the autoresponder series as “broadcast”. Then they will get the regular email messages that I write on a daily basis.

Once I have my sales funnel set up, the automation saves me so much time.

Don’t underestimate the power of email marketing. Don’t fall for articles or anyone that says, “email marketing is dead.”

It is very much alive and well. I’ve worked in web marketing for years doing SEO, web design, etc. Email marketing still plays a big part of the overall marketing strategy for these companies.

What About Delivering Your Digital Product to Your Customers?

Product delivery is completely automated as well. With Systeme.io (my referral link), I have a checkout page and when someone buys my digital product, it sends it to them automatically.

I don’t have to put in any additional effort. This is how I make sales while I’m sleeping or out and about with my family.

Yes, there are other sales platforms that you can utilize that aren’t sales funnels, but I like having everything in one place.

What I Sell with My Sales Funnel

You’ve read thus far that I sell digital information products in the form of PDF files. I sell information. It is not a new concept by any means.

The key is to create an info product that helps a specific group of people. Here are some example topics:

I type my info product up in Google Docs and export it as a PDF file. That is my info product. Not complicated at all.

You can get fancy if you want and create your PDF in Canva or outsource to have it designed.

However, a regular ol’ PDF will work just fine because it is the information that matters more than how “pretty” it looks.

What About Customer Service?

Unlike a lot of other online businesses, selling digital info products doesn’t require a lot of customer service.

Every now and again there will be a customer who reaches out via email saying they couldn’t open the files or asking a basic question.

I reply and move on with my day. This online business is super low-maintenance.
