There are all types of ways to make money as an introvert. From freelance writing to a faceless YouTube channel, there are so many introvert ways to make money.
I’m always seeking out ways to earn cash online without hard selling or draining my energy.
I settled on selling digital information products–PDF files and growing an email list in the process.
It has been one of the most low-maintenance online businesses I’ve ever done.
I call it my introvert dream business.
I Want to Make Money Without the Chit-Chat
I’ve worked corporate jobs, retail jobs, and my share of fast food jobs. None of which I liked very much which led me to search for more introvert-friendly ways to make money.
That’s when I discovered affiliate marketing which I still enjoy but you have no control over the product or service that you are promoting.
As an affiliate, you must also wait 30 – 45 days to have your commission paid.
I took a break from all of it and asked myself, what type of business would I be 100% comfortable with as an introvert?
One that allowed me to have my own product and still enable me to promote products as an affiliate.
That’s when I decided on selling digital info products.
They’re easy to create and simple to sell.
And the best part? I don’t have to do any hard selling, talk to anyone, and I automate 90% of my business.
I consider it one of the best ways for introverts to make money online.
Why Sell a PDF Versus an Online Course?
One of the most popular type of digital products to sell are online courses. You can create a video course and put your videos on a platform like Teachable or Skool.
Creating a video course takes a lot of work but the payoff can be worth it once it is done.
What I like about selling PDF files is that they are much faster to create. The sooner you get your product done, the faster you can sell it.
Selling PDFs can lead to creating more products down the line. Your first product can be a PDF and your second a video course that you can upsell at a much higher cost.
Think of it this way–when I got the idea for my first digital information product, I was so excited, I completed it in one weekend.
I couldn’t have accomplished that with a video course. It would have taken me weeks or even months to get done.
My first digital product took me one weekend and I made sales the following week.
Your PDF can be making sales while you work on expanding your product catalog.

The Power of an Email List
Selling my own PDFs also enables me to grow an email list. Having your own email list is crucial for any online business.
Here’s why:
Most people will not buy your digital product right away.
How often do you see an ad and buy immediately from someone you don’t know?
That is why many marketers will give away a product for free to get you on their email list.
Then they’re able to build trust by letting you get to know more about them via email.
But the real power of an email list is that you are building an audience that you have control of.
For example, there are those who can build a large following on social media such as Instagram or TikTok.
Yet, if their accounts are closed for any reason (and it happens), they have lost all of those followers.
The follower you gain on social media don’t belong to you.
If you build an email list, those who subscribe are saying that they are wanting to hear from you.
You can reach out to your subscribers anytime you want.
That means you can email helpful info and also promote your products which means making sales.
Automation – The Introvert Dream
The last thing I want as an introvert is to have an online business that drains my energy day in and day out.
That is why I love this particular online business so much because I can automate 90% of it!
Here’s how much of it is automated:
- Customer signs up for my free PDF guide
- Sales funnel adds customer to my email list
- Sales funnel sends emails that I’ve written in advance to promote my paid product
- Customer clicks on a link in my email to buy my product
- Sales funnel processes the payment and sends the customer their product instantly
My only focus is on getting people to my website (sales funnel) to get my free product.
That is the marketing part of it but the rest of my business is all automated!
OK – How Do I Get People to My Website?
The marketing part is usually what trips people up and I get it because I struggled with it too over the years.
However, it is much easier today with paid ads and social media.
I also use organic traffic such as blogging (like the one you’re reading now.)
My current marketing strategy is to run paid ads on Instagram. It is growing my email list every day.
Organic traffic like blogging and social media posting can take a bit longer.
You do not need to run paid ads to sell your product. It can speed things up but isn’t a requirement.
